Manchester PreK-8

The PPS Board is about to vote on a plan that would close Manchester PreK-8.

WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO CLOSE MANCHESTER?

The Superintendent’s story for "WHY” this plan keeps changing, and the math doesn’t add up. PPS has presented no clear evidence that closing schools will save money or be better for our students and communities. PPS has closed schools before, why are we repeating harmful history?

Families and educators still have unanswered questions and concerns about this reckless plan. Join us to speak up against this plan on Tuesday May 26!

WHAT CAN I DO?

The information below is a summary from the PPS Implementation Plan.

If you see something that seems wrong or doesn’t make sense, email the PPS Board Directors — they need to hear from you!

And you can rally with us on Tuesday May 26!

MANCHESTER - proposed changes

  • Manchester PreK-8 closes. These students will not stay together, and will be sent to different schools.

  • In Northside there are LOTS of planned changes about which grades are assigned to which school buildings, and it’s not entirely clear (see page 130 in PPS Implementation Plan).

  • Staff do not automatically move with students to a new school.

ATTENDANCE AND TRANSPORTATION - proposed changes

Definitions:

  • Attendance Zone = the addresses that are assigned to a school.

  • Feeder Pattern = the K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 your home address is assigned to.
